Writing your (auto)biography is a noble gift for generations of your family. Think about it...wouldn't you be interested in reading a biography about your great-grandparents? Their stories would come from the 1900s to 1970s roughly. During their lifetimes, they traveled by horse when younger and watched astronauts walk on the moon then they were older. Imagine what kinds of stories they had! Give your descendants the opportunity to read your stories.
Unfortunately, when it comes to writing a biography of your own, so many people start the process only to give up. Listed here below are the main reasons:
When I speak to our clients, what I hear are two feelings. The reasons 3,4, and 5 listed above are all about confidence, or the lack of it. I'm always telling writers that a biography just a collection of stories and handle them one at a time. Don't overwhelm yourself. I also tell clients that there are lots of grammar apps to help, and some are free. Keep in mind that your great-grandchildren will be interested in your stories, not your grammar! As for printing your biography, the world of self-publishing companies are abundant and they are better and more cost efficient than ever. Frankly, with a little more confidence on the bottom three, I often see writers find the time to surpass 1 and 2 of the list above.
